We showed up at the airport at 9am Thursday morning and sat in our rental car and said “So, where do you wanna go?!” We looked up wineries and chose an area (Dundee) that looked good and checked out Yelp for a place around there to eat Breakfast. We ended up at this amazing restaurant in this cool town in Mc Minnvinneville called Community Plate. This place was so cool inside, the food was incredible, and our trip had started!
As our day went by, we did some wine tasting and found another sick place to eat for lunch called Red Hills Market. We met the friendliest people and had the best food! Our day was shaped by each person we met who sent us to our next destination. We ended up in our suite at the Avalon Hotel and Spa with a beautiful view of the River before we headed back out for dinner in Portland at the Bent Brick. Once again we experienced the nicest of people and the best food!! Our waitress was so awesome, she was so friendly, very happy, and gave us a handfull of places to check out.
The next day we shopped all day in the Alphabet district and the Pearl District. We had a blast! The weather had been sunny the first and second day and all of the locals kept thanking us for bringing the sun! We didn’t know any different because all we were experiencing was beautiful sunny weather, but apparently Oregon is overcast and rainy most of the time, everyone thanked us for bringing the sun with us from LA (imagine that, LA people are liked!!!). We ate at cool restaurants, again experiencing amazing food and drinks at Ken’s Artisan, Jake’s Crabs, Yama Sushi, Clyde Common, and Cha Cha Cha. We shopped and ate all day long in Portland! It was a progressive day of eating we called it. We also met up with one of my teammates, Taylor, from the Towson Dance Team! It had been 7 years and it was so wonderful seeing her and catching up!
Last day, we enjoyed the spa at the hotel then we met up with my girlfriend, Rebecca and her boyfriend, Brian, for brunch. After a nice meal with them, Adam and I headed off for the SIP Classic, 164 food companies and wineries from the area all under one roof. The coolest part about it was not the food or the wine, but the fact that it was at an Air and Space Museum! We were excited to see the Sr71 “The Eagle”, the fasted and the highest piece of aircraft, and a replica of the “Apollo Lunar Lander” that Neil Armstrong used to get to the moon. We actuallly left the Wine and Food Classis unimpressed with the wine and food and went back to the Red Hills MArket to enjoy live music, wine and beer tasting and one of the best pizzas we’ve ever had.
It was a wonderful trip, we really enjoyed ourselves, our surroundings, the people, and the food 🙂
