Food | We are Foodies!

Food…we love it, eat it and worship it. Here are some images of notable dishes. Of course, these are all attached to special times in our lives, whether at home or on the road.

Portland Roadtrip | March 2012

We showed up at the airport at 9am Thursday morning and sat in our rental car and said “So, where do you wanna go?!” We looked up wineries and chose an area (Dundee) that looked good and checked out Yelp for a place around there to eat Breakfast. We ended up at this amazing restaurant in this cool town in Mc Minnvinneville called Community Plate. This place was so cool inside, the food was incredible, and our trip had started!

As our day went by, we did some wine tasting and found another sick place to eat for lunch called Red Hills Market. We met the friendliest people and had the best food! Our day was shaped by each person we met who sent us to our next destination. We ended up in our suite at the Avalon Hotel and Spa with a beautiful view of the River before we headed back out for dinner in Portland at the Bent Brick. Once again we experienced the nicest of people and the best food!! Our waitress was so awesome, she was so friendly, very happy, and gave us a handfull of places to check out.

The next day we shopped all day in the Alphabet district and the Pearl District. We had a blast! The weather had been sunny the first and second day and all of the locals kept thanking us for bringing the sun! We didn’t know any different because all we were experiencing was beautiful sunny weather, but apparently Oregon is overcast and rainy most of the time, everyone thanked us for bringing the sun with us from LA (imagine that, LA people are liked!!!). We ate at cool restaurants, again experiencing amazing food and drinks at  Ken’s Artisan, Jake’s Crabs, Yama Sushi, Clyde Common, and Cha Cha Cha. We shopped and ate all day long in Portland! It was a progressive day of eating we called it. We also met up with one of my teammates, Taylor, from the Towson Dance Team! It had been 7 years and it was so wonderful seeing her and catching up!

Last day, we enjoyed the spa at the hotel then we met up with my girlfriend, Rebecca and her boyfriend, Brian, for brunch. After a nice meal with them, Adam and I headed off for the SIP Classic, 164 food companies and wineries from the area all under one roof. The coolest part about it was not the food or the wine, but the fact that it was at an Air and Space Museum! We were excited to see the Sr71 “The Eagle”, the fasted and the highest piece of aircraft, and a replica of the “Apollo Lunar Lander” that Neil Armstrong used to get to the moon. We actuallly left the Wine and Food Classis unimpressed with the wine and food and went back to the Red Hills MArket to enjoy live music, wine and beer tasting and one of the best pizzas we’ve ever had.

It was a wonderful trip, we really enjoyed ourselves, our surroundings,  the people, and the food 🙂

Here is a map with pins of some of the spots we hit up:

Park City, Utah | Ski 2012 Part Deux

We went to Park City with our great friends Ivy and Sven. We stayed at this beautiful and conveniently located hotel called the Caledonian in a condo on the top floor with a perfect view of the city. Our place was so warm and cozy with a jacuzzi outside on the patio! We loved walking up and down the main strip, shopping and enjoying a nice walk after breakfast and dinner! Every meal here was great! Great food and great company! The first night we ate at Butchers Chop House, which was right at the hotel. We walked around the city and actually enjoyed some sushi 3 hours later at Yuki Arashi!

We were so lucky because it snowed hard all day the second day, for Ivy’s Birthday!!

Adam and I skiied the 2nd, 3rd and 4th days we were there.  Our hotel literally had a lift right out the back door! We rented our skiis right across the street from the hotel and jumped on a lift to the top of the mountain! We met Ivy and Sven at the bottom every day for a late lunch. We would text them on our last run to meet us at the bottom and they would leave the room and watch us ski down to meet them. We would meet for a burger and beer at this place called The Bridge, which was at the bottom of the mountain, also right outside of our hotel (barely 2 mins walking from our 4th floor condo). I could not believe how convenient “ski in ski out” was! On the first day it snowed, we skied in knee high powder, it was amazing!! It was incredible to float over!  It was a little challenging for me because of how deep and ungroomed it was on the slopes.  On the second day of skiing, the sloped were groomed and I was getting better as Adam was providing me with helpful tips. On the third day of skiing, Adam I were skiing side by side, weaving in and out of each others tracks, laughing, and flying down the mountain!! We had so much fun!! After each day of skiing, we enjoyed the jacuzzi outside with the great view.

For Ivy’s Birthday, we went out to Mariposa. This meal was unforgettable. The service, the detail, the food… everything was perfect and everyone was blown away by this experience! The snowball for desert was to die for! Happy Birthday IVY!

Valentines Day was two days later and we all went to Prime Steakhouse, which was another delicious meal. The filet was a juicy softball that melted in our mouths. It was a wonderful dinner!

On the last daywe enjoyed breakfast at the  St. Regis Hotel. We took the Funicular up to the top and looked at  Deer Valley Resort while we ate. Another great meal.

The trip was amazing, Park City was beautiful, great shopping, awesome skiing, and fun times!

Saw Wa Dee | Phuket Thailand 2011

Took off from LA at 10:00 AM Thursday, arrived in Phuket 24 hours later on Saturday morning at 12:10 AM local time. The flights were pretty amazing. We were fortunate enough to be able to fly business class. The service on Asiana was amazing, what a difference from US based carriers. The seats moved in every direction you could think of, even all the way flat. The food on both flights was really good too!

Customs was nothing more then a stamp in the passport. The agent did not even glace at us. Took some time to find our bags, and opportunist was holding them for tip randsom, i was in no mood and we were not in Cabo! We quickly found our ride and within 30 minutes we were safely at the Anantara Phuket. It was after 1:00 am at this time, the hotel was lit beautifully. When we arrived in our villa, we had an amazing Thai room service dinner. The food was off the chart. Enjoy the photographs from our first day, here are some memories:

Breakfast was an orgy of food…cut open young coconut juice, bao, fruit, rice, 100 pastries, absolutely amazing food so wonderfully presented

The beach is insanely beautiful, the water is so clean and clear!

We made friends with the pool attendents: Pom and Ding who took great care of us all day. So far they’ve taught us how to say Hello “Sa wa dee”, How are you? “Sa ba dee mai?” and thank you “Kop kun kah”. The ladys respond with “Kah” at the end of their sentence and men respond with “Krap” at the end of their response.

Kelly rolled her ankle in the pool right when we get there and now she’s hobbling around with a bandage!

All the photos of the villa dont even come close to capturing how beautiful it is… We have a pool connected to our bedroom, separated by two huge sliding glass doors, and a bath tub in the pool connected to our bathroom, separated by two sliding glass doors. We have a private Sala just outside of our gate that is over the lagoon and connected by a short walk way.
